Welcome to my world

My husband and I were driving home one evening and this was what the sky looked like. My appreciation for the beauty in nature comes from my dad. As far back as I can remember, he could be heard saying things like "What a sunset. Look at that...God that's beautiful." I remember that I would look, and concentrate really hard on what it was that awed him so. Then, I understood.

There is something about a breath-stealing sunset that is soul-calming to me. Some of my mortal brethren use the saying "Stop and smell the roses". I prefer "Stop and observe the sunset"...or sunrise for that matter.

Until next time, make every minute (and sunset) count.

Merry Gentry Series

I have started reading the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton (author pictured at left). Love it! I'm about halfway through the third installment of the series Seduced by Moonlight.

There are a good number of enticing male characters to choose from, and the heroine is strong, smart and possesses a very human-like compassion despite her otherness. There is a plethora of monsters presented in great--sometimes horrific--detail. Each species presented has its own history and general characteristic to include physical traits and personality. In turn, each character is presented with his or her own unique history and personality.

More interestingly, there are a number of characters who are crossbreeds of two or more different monster species. With these particular characters Hamilton has done an excellent job with presenting each personality which blends the characteristics of each given side of his or her heritage.

On a lighter note, I personally like my romance novel smut to be a tad more detailed in the foreplay department but the sex scenes presented in this series are each as sultry and unique as the characters. The trysts depicted are surprisingly emotional in detail. I have not encountered this aspect with this much detail in the paranormal romances I have read so far. Needless to say, I'm hooked.

Now if I can only choose just one male Fey character as my favorite...or maybe I'll just love them each and all and, once again, save myself the trouble of choosing.
